AWeSOMe! Summer Coordinator / Kayaking Instructor
AWeSOMe! is seeking a Summer Coordinator / Kayaking Instructor for our 2016 summer program to coordinate and lead fun and safe summer events for children with physical and developmental disabilities. Please apply on or before April 24, 2016. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:
PreSeason
– set up schedule (together with AWeSOMe! Program Director)
– put schedule into online booking system
– outreach to AWeSOMe participants/parents and potential participants about summer program
– attend pre-season training with volunteers
Prior to Each Lesson
– confirm participants and volunteers for each session with online booking system, by phone and/or email
Lesson Day
Prior to beginning of the Lesson
– transport required equipment to site
– set up all equipment
At the Lesson
– ensure all volunteers and participants fill out registration forms and waivers
– collect lessons fees, issue receipts
– maintain and safe and fun learning environment
– take photographs of participants and volunteers (or assign a volunteer to do this)
After the Lesson
– keep accurate financial records and deposit fees
– upload photos and reports to AWeSOMe! Facebook page and the AWeSOMe! blog
General
- take incoming calls on AWeSOMe! Tracphone
– monitor AWeSOMe! email account
– report directly to the AWeSOMe! Summer Program Director /AWeSOMe! Board of Directors
– keep accurate records of participant and volunteer contact information and attendance
– help develop a program improvement plan for sustainability, quality, and growth.
Qualifications:
- experience working with children with disabilities
- experience coordinating volunteers
- preference will be given to candidates with lifeguarding certification, first aid and American Canoe Association (or equivalent) training
- must complete a background check
Hours/Salary:
This is a part-time position, hours are flexible and will vary depending on the schedule of events. We anticipate approximately 5 hours per week commencing at the beginning of June until mid-Sept. Pay $15/hour
